What it is
This is surgical removal of a tooth that is completely covered by jawbone, most often a wisdom tooth. The surgeon opens the gum, removes bone and often sections the tooth to take it out.
What the price covers
The fee usually covers the surgery with local anesthesia and routine follow-up care, per tooth. IV sedation or general anesthesia, X-rays or a 3D scan, and the consultation are billed separately.
Why prices differ
Hospital prices come mostly from hospital dental clinics and dental schools, which price differently from private offices; the type of anesthesia and whether the surgery is done in an operating room also change the total.
