Leg CT scan cost in Maryland
In Maryland, 13 hospitals publish a cash price for leg CT scan without contrast (hip to foot, any part): from $59.40 to $1,246.80, with a median of $181.30. The lowest price is at UPMC Western Maryland (Cumberland). The highest price is 21.0× the lowest.
Why Maryland prices look low: Maryland is the only state where a commission (the HSCRC) sets hospital rates for every payer, so its hospitals publish prices far below the rest of the country. A separate physician fee may still apply.

What it is
A leg CT without contrast makes cross-section pictures of part of the leg, such as the knee, ankle or foot bones. It is used for complex fractures, planning surgery and when an X-ray is unclear.
What the price covers
The hospital price usually covers the scan and any contrast dye. The radiologist's reading is often billed separately.
