Neck CT angiogram (CTA) cost in Maryland
In Maryland, 13 hospitals publish a cash price for CT angiography (CTA) of the neck: from $98.40 to $1,910.75, with a median of $287.06. The lowest price is at UPMC Western Maryland (Cumberland). The highest price is 19.4× the lowest.
Why Maryland prices look low: Maryland is the only state where a commission (the HSCRC) sets hospital rates for every payer, so its hospitals publish prices far below the rest of the country. A separate physician fee may still apply.

What it is
A neck CTA uses contrast dye and CT scanning to show the carotid and vertebral arteries in the neck. It is used after a stroke or mini-stroke and to check narrowing found on an ultrasound.
What the price covers
The hospital price usually covers the scan and any contrast dye. The radiologist's reading is often billed separately.
