What is CPT 43774?
This operation removes an adjustable gastric band and the port under the skin through small cuts. It is done when the band slips, erodes into the stomach, causes symptoms or does not lead to enough weight loss.
What the price covers
The facility price usually covers the operating room and recovery and may not include the hospital stay. The surgeon, anesthesia, pre-surgery tests and follow-up visits are usually billed separately.
Why prices differ
Prices differ between hospitals and surgery programs and with length of stay; some programs sell bundled self-pay packages priced differently from the hospital's listed code price. A removal combined with a sleeve or bypass in the same operation is billed with other codes.
