What it is
An in-lab sleep study (polysomnography) records brain waves, breathing, oxygen levels, heart rhythm and movement while you sleep overnight at a sleep center. It is used to diagnose sleep apnea and other sleep disorders. A technologist watches the study throughout the night.
What the price covers
The hospital price usually covers the overnight study and the technologist. The sleep physician's interpretation is often billed separately.
