Cash or insurance?

What it is
A stress echocardiogram takes ultrasound pictures of the heart at rest and again right after exercise on a treadmill or bike, or after a medicine that makes the heart work harder. It shows whether parts of the heart muscle get too little blood under stress. It is often ordered for chest pain or shortness of breath.
What the price covers
This code covers the echo images, the stress test with continuous ECG monitoring and physician supervision, and the interpretation. The stress medicine, when used, and a contrast agent may be billed separately.
