What it is
A troponin test measures a heart muscle protein that leaks into the blood when the heart is damaged. It is the key blood test for a heart attack and is usually repeated a few hours apart in the emergency department.
What the price covers
The price usually covers running the test. The blood draw (36415) is often billed as a separate line.
