Cash or insurance?

What it is
A pelvic ultrasound through the belly makes pictures of the organs in the pelvis: in women the uterus, ovaries and bladder, and in men the bladder and prostate area. It is ordered for pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, fibroids, cysts or urinary problems. This code is for non-pregnancy exams.
What the price covers
The hospital price usually covers the exam itself. The radiologist's reading is often billed separately, and a transvaginal ultrasound done at the same visit (76830) is billed as its own code.
