What it is
A transvaginal pregnancy ultrasound uses a small probe placed in the vagina to get close-up pictures. It is most often used early in pregnancy to see the pregnancy and heartbeat, and later to measure the length of the cervix.
What the price covers
The hospital price usually covers the exam. The doctor's reading may be billed separately, and an abdominal pregnancy ultrasound done at the same visit is billed under its own code.
