What it is
In this procedure a thin scope is passed through the bladder into the ureter or kidney, and the stone is broken up with a laser; a temporary stent is placed to keep urine draining. It is done under anesthesia, usually as an outpatient.
What the price covers
The facility price covers the operating room and recovery; the stent is part of the code, though it may be listed as a supply. The urologist, anesthesia, stone analysis and later stent removal are usually billed separately.
