Cash or insurance?

If you have insurance but have not met your deductible, you usually pay your plan's negotiated rate, which falls somewhere in the "Insurers pay" column. Paying cash can cost less, but a cash payment usually does not count toward your deductible. Ask the hospital for both numbers before you book.
What it is
Cystoscopy uses a thin scope passed through the urethra to look inside the bladder and urethra. It is used to check for blood in the urine, repeated infections, bladder symptoms or to follow up on bladder cancer.
What the price covers
The listed price usually covers the procedure. The urologist's fee and any sedation may be billed separately, and a biopsy or treatment done during the exam changes the code.
