Cash or insurance?

What it is
A Roux-en-Y gastric bypass creates a small stomach pouch and connects it directly to the small intestine, so food bypasses most of the stomach. It is a weight-loss (bariatric) operation that also often improves type 2 diabetes and reflux.
What the price covers
The facility price usually covers the operating room and recovery and may not include the hospital stay. The surgeon, anesthesia, pre-surgery tests and follow-up visits are usually billed separately.
