This upper endoscopy (EGD) looks at the esophagus, stomach and first part of the small intestine and takes one or more tissue samples (biopsies). Biopsies can check for things like H. pylori infection, celiac disease or abnormal cells.
What the price covers
The facility price covers the procedure room and recovery. The gastroenterologist, anesthesia and the pathologist's exam of the biopsy samples are usually billed separately.
