Cash or insurance?
At 18 of 19 hospitals that publish insurer rates for this code here, the cash price is below the highest rate a health plan has negotiated, and at 10 it is below every plan's rate. If you have insurance but have not met your deductible, you usually pay your plan's negotiated rate, which falls somewhere in the "Insurers pay" column. Paying cash can cost less, but a cash payment usually does not count toward your deductible. Ask the hospital for both numbers before you book.
What it is
This is an office or outpatient visit for a returning patient with low complexity decision making, or at least 20 minutes of total clinician time on the visit date. It is one of the most common visit codes, used for things like a stable chronic condition or an acute problem such as an infection.
What the price covers
The price covers the clinician's visit. Lab tests, X-rays, procedures and any hospital facility fee at a hospital-owned clinic are billed separately.
