Outpatient: lowest $3,751.20, median $3,751.20, highest $3,751.20.

One side of the body : lowest $12,231.53, median $12,231.53, highest $12,231.53.

The two groups are not comparable and are not averaged together: a price for both sides of the body covers twice the work. Merging them is how a single published "median" ends up far above what one side actually costs.

As an inpatient, the same code is billed by 1 facility here, median $12,231.53. Inpatient and outpatient prices are not comparable and are kept on separate pages: the inpatient charge covers admission, not the same purchase.

What it is

A left heart catheterization threads a thin tube through an artery in the wrist or groin to the left side of the heart to measure pressures and, when performed, take X-ray pictures of the heart's main pumping chamber. This code does not include pictures of the coronary arteries.

What the price covers

The facility price covers the cath lab and recovery. The cardiologist's fee, sedation, and any coronary angiography or stent placement (billed under other codes) are separate.
