What it is
A left heart catheterization threads a thin tube through an artery in the wrist or groin to the left side of the heart to measure pressures and, when performed, take X-ray pictures of the heart's main pumping chamber. This code does not include pictures of the coronary arteries.

The facility price covers the cath lab and recovery. The cardiologist's fee, sedation, and any coronary angiography or stent placement (billed under other codes) are separate.
