Pneumovax 23 is the older polysaccharide pneumonia vaccine, covering 23 types of pneumococcus. Today it is mainly given after the 15-valent conjugate vaccine, or to complete a series started with it.
What the price covers
The price is for the vaccine dose. Giving the shot is usually a separate line (code 90471 for the first vaccine of the visit); Medicare bills use G0009 instead.
