What it is
Prevnar 20 is a conjugate vaccine against 20 types of pneumococcus, the bacteria behind many cases of pneumonia, meningitis and blood infections. The CDC recommends a pneumococcal conjugate vaccine for all adults 50 and older and for younger adults with certain conditions, usually as a single dose.
What the price covers
The price is for the vaccine dose. Giving the shot is usually a separate line (code 90471 for the first vaccine of the visit); Medicare bills use G0009 instead.
