A basic metabolic panel (BMP) is a blood test that measures eight things: glucose, calcium, sodium, potassium, carbon dioxide, chloride, blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine. It gives a quick picture of blood sugar, fluid and electrolyte balance, and kidney function.
