What it is
A breast ultrasound makes pictures of the inside of the breast with sound waves. The complete exam covers the whole breast and often the nearby armpit. It is often done after a mammogram finding, for a lump, or in dense breasts.
What the price covers
The hospital price usually covers the exam of one breast. The radiologist's reading is often billed separately, and a biopsy, if needed, is billed under different codes.
