What it is
This CT of the abdomen and pelvis takes one set of images without contrast dye and more images after dye is injected into a vein. It is used when doctors need to compare the organs before and after the dye, for example to look at the kidneys and urinary tract when there is blood in the urine, or at a liver or kidney mass.
What the price covers
The hospital price usually covers all image sets; the contrast agent may appear as a separate line on some bills. The radiologist's reading is often billed separately.
