What it is
A chest CT uses X-rays and a computer to make detailed cross-section pictures of the lungs, airways and chest. Without contrast dye it is often used to follow up a lung nodule, look at lung disease or check an abnormal chest X-ray.

The hospital price usually covers the scan. The radiologist's reading is often billed separately.
