What it is
A colonoscopy uses a long, flexible camera to look at the inside of the entire colon (large intestine). The diagnostic version, with no tissue taken, is used to look into symptoms like bleeding or changes in bowel habits and is also used for screening.
What the price covers
The facility price covers the procedure room and recovery. The gastroenterologist's fee, anesthesia and the bowel-prep medicine are usually billed or bought separately.
